Parenting with Love

Wow. I have kind of been struggling with this one lately. Not the love part, just not getting grumpy over small things. I know I can pray for help with this because I have been doing so and it works so well! I am so grateful that we can ask our Father in Heaven for help with things that we are struggling with because I KNOW He will help us! 💗💙💚💛💜

Here is the link for my new video (above)! Let me know if you have any questions or comments! Thanks for watching!

Here is a link for an amazing talk given by James E. Faust. I love this talk because he quoted, "Being a father or a mother is not only a great challenge, it is a divine calling." I feel so much power and love hearing this. We did not just get a child in the mail from a stranger... we have been given a divine calling from a loving Heavenly Father to grow close to each other as a couple, and to bear children. It most definitely is a challenge being a parent sometimes but I am grateful it is one of my greatest callings here on the earth.

Here is another link for a talk given by Larry R. Lawrence. This talk specifically talks about having courage as a parent. I felt prompted to share this quote because all too often we overbook our evenings, are too tired when it comes time to read scriptures and pray at night or we do not eat family dinner together...

We must continue to be courageous and loving parents. Heavenly Father is just a pray away if we need help. :)

Wholesome Family Recreation

What does "wholesome family recreation" mean to you? I want you to think about that for a minute... Here is a list of things it means to me: games sports movies talking with each other going for a walk going on vacation playing with toys (with our daughter) going swimming just spending time with family Growing up we never hung out with friends on Sundays or went shopping. We always tried to watch church movies, we all took a nap, we sometimes would visit with family, and would play games. I feel that the term, "wholesome family recreation" basically means to do something fun as a family. The most important part of that is the time you spend TOGETHER. My husband is gone about 12 hours a day/ 6 days a week. We do not get to spend much time with him, so when we do, we try to make the best of it! One of my favorite Sunday activities to do is to go for a walk around the neighborhood. The weather is cooling down nicely and it is a waste of time being insi...

Marital Intimacy & Fertility

Here is the the video I posted on YouTube regarding my thoughts of Martial Intimacy & Fertility. There is this amazing book that I feel everyone should read because it has so many helpful hints and just great information about marriage and families. I have mentioned it before but it is called, Successful Marriages and Families: Proclamation Principles and Research Perspectives  Edited by Alan J. Hawkins, David C. Dollahite, and Thomas W. Draper. When I read chapter 5 I had to make a post about my feelings. It was just too good! One thing that stuck out to me was on page 52 - it gives a list of "attitudes that promote positive marital sexuality..." the ones that stuck out to me the most were, "1. Sexual interaction is a healthy component of marriage that need not be a source of negative feelings or guilt." And "5. Couples should strive to create a "we" relationship , where both partners' sharing and pleasure is important as opposed to one pe...

My Eternal Family

I grew up a member of the LDS Church and have always been taught that "families can be eternal". However, I never really knew the impact that would have on my life until I went through the temple for the first time. There are words that are promised to us if we obey the commandments that we are taught in the temple, as well as the things we are taught in church weekly. We need to pay attention to those things and make positive changes in our lives that will get us closer to eternal life.  Life is hard and trials come upon us that can make things difficult within families. I know it has happened to us multiple times, and I feel we came out stronger because of those things. If we can always keep our eyes on "eternal life" and do the right things, always asking for repentance along the way, we will be greatly blessed. More importantly we will hopefully be able to live with our families in the Celestial Kingdom for eternity.  In the book, Successful Marriages an...
